【摘要】:ThistestisforevaluatingceramicproductsthatareintendedforreheatinginaConsumerbasedmicrowaveoven.Itisnotintendedforevaluatingproductsthatwillbeusedincommercialtypemicrowaves.Thistestmethodisnotintendedtoevaluatemetallicorpolymericbasedproducts.Ceramicproductsintendedformicrowaveusemustalsobeevaluatedforthermalshockresistanceandpassthe325x00B0;FcriteriaasdescribedinTestMethodC554,beforebeingtestedformicrowavesafety.Thiswouldincludespecifictestsfordinnerware,cookware,drinkwareandancillaryitemsintendedforusewithhotfoods,suchasgravyboatsoranyproductintendedformicrowaveuse.Disheshavingametallicglaze,decorationorpaintshouldnotbeusedinthistestormicrowaveovensunlessitisspecificallydesignedforandmarkedasmicrowavesafe.1.1Thistestmethoddeterminesthesuitabilityofceramicwareforuseinmicrowavere-heatingapplications.Microwaveovensaremainlyusedforreheatinganddefrostingfrozenfoods.Severethermalconditionscanoccurwhilereheatingfoods.Typicalreheatingoffoodsrequiresonetofivemin.inthemicrowaveatthehighestpowersettings.Longerperiodsthanfiveminutesareconsideredcooking.Cookingtestmethodsandstandardsarenotaddressedinthistestmethod.Mostceramicwareisminimallyabsorbingofthemicrowaveenergyandwillnotheatupsignificantly.Unfortunatelytherearesomeproductsthatabsorbmicrowaveenergytoagreaterextentandcanbecomeveryhotinthemicrowaveandposeaserioushazard.Additionally,thenatureofmicrowaveheatingintroducesradiationinanon-uniformmannerproducingtemperaturedifferentialsinthefoodbeingcookedaswellastheceramiccontainerholdingit.Thedifferentialmaybecomegreatenoughtothermalshockthewareandcreatedangerousconditions.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
